Talk? what is this thing called talk?

=Your Questions

[edit]

Is there a way to prevent somebody from using my name as their user name. It looks malecious to me as they are pretending to actually BE me. Thanks (and sorry for the bother), Peter D. Ekman

Any user can add a speedy delete tag but only an admin can actually delete it. I am not an admin but been around awhile. Talk is this discussion page where other users communicate with you and as you can do when you click on other user pages it is the second button from the left.-Dakota 03:58, 28 October 2005 (UTC) [reply]

Please check the exile page

And please do check the facts in the section "Libel Judgement" The links are all there. They've all ready started deleting it. Thanks, Pete (the real one)

NPOV notice on the eXile

[edit]

what about the article is NPOV? I and others I am sure would be glad to make changes if you could point something out on the discussion page, or feel free to change it yourself. as for the Ekman edit war of late, I've heard arguments that this information is libelous or irrelevant, but not NPOV. or is it something else? consensus comment requested at talk:the eXile

[edit]

hi, sorry to bother you but I noticed you've made some edits to the eXile before and I was wondering if you could leave a comment on some edit wars we've been having lately on the talk page, where I've put up a request for consensus comments. I'm sorry to bother you with something so trivial, but...well I think you'll understand when you see the page, or the article's edit history. If you don't have time, no problem. RfC for "Ekman"

[edit]

Hi, I've completed a draft of a user conduct RfC for the guy claiming to be Peter Ekman and I would like your input. I'm wondering if this is something you could endorse, or even act as a basis-certifier. Thanks, and sorry to keep bothering you about this stuff, Dsol 21:50, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Squibix, thanks for picking up my slack :P I guess I was sloopy in reverting vandalism. --Hurricane111 15:00, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:George_Wein_300.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 09:36, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Objectivist Politics

[edit]

yes, the whole page is a work in progress. I wanted to help clean up the Objectivist Philosophy page. There are links to metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, but not politics. So I just cut-and-pasted straight out of the main article, just to put something there. The whole thing needs cleaning up. Dullfig 17:35, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Philosophy of Life

[edit]

I see you have voted for deletion of the article. [Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Philosophy_of_Life_%282nd_nomination%29]. I have placed my objections beside my "don't delete" vote. It seems to me that there is knowledge about Life which is not itself a disipline, but which is contributed to by Biology and other disiplines. Particularly, we now know that Life exists probably everywhere we can find water, that life, over a period of time, forms more complex life forms, etc. Biology doesn't exactly cover this area. Yes, Biology begin as a study of life but has become a study of life forms rather than a study of the energy that is associated with Life. I would argue that "Philosophy of Life" is quite an appropriate title to codify that knowledge which Biology and other disiplines have gleaned.Terryeo 01:11, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Library of Earth and Sky

[edit]

After reading all the comments on my talk page, I have decided to scrap the library and instead use simple alphabetised lists ("Animals of the Edge Chronicles" etc). Thank you for your healthy criticism. This being my first venture into Wiki, I kinda guessed I'd make glaringly obvious mistakes, but I intend to learn from them (:

P.S. Please feel free to delete all the library subsections, but could you wait until at least tomorrow to give me time to copy the info. Thanks!--Ninty 09:25, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for revisions. I am new here, and it is like having a bigbrother's help. I retain what you made. But of course I shall repair any substantial arrors you might introduce. Your format is good. I shall learn.

The only thing that is to be sorry about, is that you started your edit before I could save mine, and something got lost. ("collision"). Never mind. AbuAmir 15:24, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:George_Wein_300.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:George_Wein_300.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 22:44, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Jasonmoran_bw1.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jasonmoran_bw1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 11:27, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dbarnes-transient sign1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dbarnes-transient sign1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Squibix! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Charles Joseph (musician) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Rebirth Brass Band has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Copyright violation from here [1].

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Zucchinidreams (talk) 13:31, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Or maybe the bio from a site that opened in 2008 was copied from the article, which was essentially complete in its current form before then. Thank you Phil Bridger for pointing out the completely obvious. squibix(talk) 03:57, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lee Bennett Hopkins, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Union, New Jersey (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).
