Current Events Oz & NZ
[edit]I suggest you include your message at Talk:Current events in Oceania rather than putting copies on the talk pages of multiple editors. In general, we don't want people to promote their own websites on Wikipedia, but a polite mention as you have made on talk pages is entirely appropriate.-gadfium 01:41, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]The current system seems to be working really well :) --Peta 07:05, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Query
[edit]Hi Jonathan - nice work with the Archbishops of Sydney stuff - but I'm not sure why you removed the contemporary online reference to the Australian dictionary of biography since it is a very contemporary reference. I'm keen to know why. I would have thought a link to a page (which represents modern scholarship) is useful - even if it shows only that the scholars haven't cnhaged their minds or found new information? Doesn't it help with the isse of verification on wiki. Why not keep both? Look forward to your reply. I thought not to replace it before I asked. Cor Unum 09:29, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

John Laurence Rentoul article
[edit]Hi Jonathan, thanks for adding the John Laurence Rentoul article. However there seems to be some doubt about the public domain status of the DAB in other parts of the world (inside Australia is OK) - see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Australia/To-do/Australian Dictionary of Biography#Need_for_editing. So it's best to write an article based on the DAB (and preferably the ADB) and avoid copying paragraphs of text from the DAB. I've been re-writing some articles on people from the DAB so they no longer contain chunks of text copied from there. Diverman (talk) 11:08, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- That is a pity. It was easy to copy from the DAB and wikify. Then again, any new articles will be better for being written from scratch, I guess. Jonathan O'Donnell (talk) 03:40, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, it would have been easier to do a more direct transfer from the DAB, but I think the articles are better if they include info from the ADB. I've updated the Rentoul article, incorporating inline refs to the ADB, adding sections, more categories and filling in the {{DEFAULTSORT}} template.
- If you feel like helping out, there are articles here [[Category:Wikipedia articles incorporating text from the 1949 Dictionary of Australian Biography]] which could do with some re-wording and introduction of material from the ADB and other sources. Thanks in advance :)

About "yayo" language
[edit]I've reread the encyclopedia, and found I haven't make error in citing them. But I think it might be "yayoi", a historical period in Japanese history. So I corrected this misspelling. It might be that the original writer misspelled the word. But thank you anyway. Dreamback1116 (talk) 12:51, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Hello Jonathan. You created a lot of good, valid and well referenced articles on Australian history. I don't think your article creations need to be listed at Special:NewPages and I would like to change your user rights to "autopatrolled", just for the sake of reducing the workload of new page patrollers. Please, let me know if you agree. Keep up the good work :) --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 07:25, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, Vejvančický. I would be honoured. Please change my user rights to "autopatrolled". Thanks for that. --Jonathan O'Donnell (talk) 04:20, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, done. Thanks for your contributions, Jonathan. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 14:51, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Disambiguation (metadata)
[edit]The article Disambiguation (metadata) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- One sentence article on a topic that is non-notable, does not cite any sources
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proud User (talk) 20:18, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
